FRONT GARDENS
“There’s no doubt a great front garden makes a home
easier to sell and it might increase the value”
Sarah Beeny, London Paper Apr-2008
To improve the welcome to your home or even to help sell it, we can transform your front garden. We can provide you with:
* A nominal charge of £25 will be made for all site visits within Greater London or 10 miles of our office, but will be deducted from the final amount owing if the homeowner proceeds with a Front Garden design. Contact us for prices of site visits to other areas.
All designs will comply with the new planning laws regarding permeable front garden surfaces (see below) therefore NO planning permission will be required.
You can choose to set your own total build & planting budget for us to design within and to help you decide on what is achievable, we can advise on likely costs.
Call or email us now to arrange a consultation at a time to suit you.
Planning Laws for Front Gardens
Any new non-permeable front garden surfaces over 5 square metres in size now require planning permission.
New Permeable Paving Legislation
“From October 2008, new legislation came into place requiring homeowners to obtain planning permission before installing a non-permeable surface in front gardens. The legislation has been introduced after the Government identified a need to manage surface water run-off more effectively in built-up areas to prevent the overfilling of mains drainage – two-thirds of the 2007 floods are thought to have been caused by significant amounts of water overwhelming drainage systems. At present, new legislation appears only to affect new and extended gardens and driveways at the front of a property, adjacent to the road. Back gardens are not affected.”
